Welcome to Norway!
Help us to keep Norway free of serious transmissible animal diseases
The animal health status among domestic animals in Norway, with regard to the serious contagious animal diseases, is better than in most other countries. We want this also to be the case in the future.
Infective micro-organisms can be spread through food and drinking water, people, footwear, clothes and vehicles.
Norwegian Veterinary Authorities and animal producers execute a number of important safety precautions to prevent contagious material from entering our country.
By adhering to the following guidelines you are helping us to carry out this work.
- Please do not visit Norwegian herds the first 48 hours (72 hours if you come fra a country with foot and mouth disease) after your arrival to Norway. This rule also applies to Norwegian citizens and residents who have been abroad.
- Never enter a building housing domestic animals without the permission of the owner.
- When visiting herds, always use the farm\'s own clothing and footwear designed for protection against disease.
- Do not bring to Norway clothing, footwear or equipment used when visiting herds abroad.
- Never feed food scraps to pigs or other animals.
- Avoid leaving or throwing away food scraps into the environment - please use waste bins.
