BROCHURE 2009 - a presentation of Animalia in english

Our main focus is to offer the meat industry new insight and knowledge in all areas, and to improve the industry’s competitive edge. We work closely together with the Norwegian Meat Information Office (Opplysningskontoret for kjøtt), thus offering a complete set of services throughout the entire value chain, – “from farm to fork”.

Animalia is involved in a wide variety of research and development projects. These projects and assignments are partly initiated and led by us, and partly initiated by the industry, other research companies or the authorities. We can act both as project owner and as co-partner in larger projects. One of our focus areas in research is to seek generic solutions to generic problems regarding legislation and precautionary measures within the meat industry.

We provide products and services within a broad range of topics. Among these are projects on how to enhance economic value in the meat and poultry industry, cost efficiency programs and quality improvements, as well as animal welfare-, food safety and quality assurance services. Our employees combine outstanding theoretical knowledge with practical experience and always emphasising applicability.

We offer in-depth knowledge and experience in these areas:

  1. Supervising and registration of breeding.
  2. Animal health services including preventive medicine.
  3. Animal welfare, especially regarding animal transportation and handling in the slaughterhouse.
  4. Supervising carcass classification.
  5. Food safety and hygiene.
  6. Meat products, with special emphasis on cured meat.

Animalia – Meat and Poultry Research Centre has organised several sucssesful international meetings and among them are a three-day First International Dry-cured meat congress, June 2006 in Oslo. The congress attracted 30 renowned speakers from around the world to discuss the manufacture, safety and developments in the production of dry-cured meat products
