Pig Health Service

The Pig Health Service co-ordinates and promotes preventive measures, herd diagnostics, organised disease control and animal welfare in pig production.

Norwegian pigs benefits from The Pig Health Service efforts to control diseases.

This office offers surveillance, counselling, teaching, training and research. The Pig Health Service is a joint effort with the companies Norsvin, Gilde Norsk Kjøtt and The National Meat Producers Association.

All members in the Pig Heath Service or pig producers that have a signed agreement on preventive health service in swineherds, are offered local courses with main emphasis on preventive measures. These courses are held by local veterinarians or by the Heath Service veterinarian in the abattoirs.

The Pig Health Service informs and advises producers, local advisors and veterinarians to improve competence in preventive medicine. The Pig Health Records generate pig disease statistics on a local, regional and national level.
